This weekend Pastor John gave a message over Matthew 13:1-9 – a story about planting seed. Often times people see followers of Jesus wanting to be “the good soil” where the seeds grow and produce a crop. Of course we want to produce good fruit and grow the kingdom of God. But in this case, Jesus is specifically comparing the farmer casting out seeds to his followers spreading the news of the Risen Lord. As we go through life, these conversations may not always be fun or comfortable. Our words may fall on deaf ears. Our words may insult. Other times people may grab on but fall away again. And other times the words will sink in and fruit will be produced – a life will have been saved. We are very much so going to hear more “no’s” than “yes’s.” But the goal is to never stop spreading the word.
